You have a commercial registration. What does a website actually cost?

Under the Commercial Register Law issued in 2024, the register has no expiry date. What replaced renewal is an annual confirmation of your registered data, required by Article 11.

Article 15 sets out what happens if you skip it: a warning, then suspension if the confirmation is more than ninety days late, and if the year of suspension passes with nothing filed, the registration is cancelled. Article 10 separately requires any change to your registered data to be filed within fifteen days.

The annual confirmation for a sole establishment is 500 riyals. For companies it is higher — the Ministry lists 1,000 riyals for a general or limited partnership, 1,200 for a limited liability company, and 1,600 for a joint-stock company.

VAT in Saudi Arabia is 15%. Registration becomes mandatory once your taxable supplies over twelve months exceed 375,000 riyals, and it is optional above 187,500 riyals.

Most businesses in their first year are under both. Knowing the threshold matters more than registering early: when you cross it, the application is due within thirty days of the end of that month.

A domain is the only unavoidable website cost, and it is small — a .com is typically tens of riyals for the first year. Everything else depends on how you build.

For a sole establishment starting from nothing: 200 riyals for the trade name, 500 for the registration, then 500 a year to keep it current, plus a domain and whatever you choose to spend on the site itself. VAT arrives later, if at all.
